The PARENT project is an NIHR-funded study led by the University of Hull in partnership with the Humber NHS Research Team. It explores how health visitors can have confident, non-judgmental conversations with parents about alcohol consumption during standard developmental health checks.
Vicky Gilroy, iHV Director of Innovation and Research, is a co-app on the study - and the iHV has supported a national survey of health visitors and provision of advice to the advisory group. The study aims to co-create an evidence-based, HV-led care pathway that supports families and mitigates risks associated with parental drinking. The study ends in September 2026.
