We believe improving outcomes for SEND is everyone’s responsibility. Our SEND SIG brings together health visitors in SEND roles - or with a strong interest in SEND - who work on improving support for babies, children and families living with complex conditions or disabilities. At the iHV, we are building a community to learn how to do this better.

The group promotes innovation and supports a caring, flexible approach to delivering care for babies and children with SEND.

We welcome new members as we grow this community – if you are an iHV member, you can apply to join our SEND SIG in the 'Groups' section in your portal.

Aim

To strengthen the quality of health visiting services and improve outcomes of babies and children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), through influencing, promoting and sharing best practice across all regions in the UK.

Objectives

  • To feel connected, engaged and supported in your SEND roles
  • To share challenges, learning, innovation and best practice
  • To influence and shape policy
  • To strengthen the voice of individual services to promote equitable services across all UK HV services
  • For members to provide the iHV with evidence and insight from practice enabling us to provide an accurate and up-to-date picture of any urgent matters that require their attention from government
  • For the iHV to provide a national update on our SEND workstreams and the national direction for the health visiting profession.

Feedback from current members reflects the value of the SIG:
