Evaluating Speech, Communication and Language Support at the 2–2½-year Healthy Child Review (ESCALATER) is an NIHR-funded study led by the University of Oxford, with Newcastle University, Northumbria University, and iHV.

The study examines how health visitors assess and support children’s speech, language, and communication, and the impact on children, families, and services.

As co-applicants, Vicky Gilroy and Dr Sharin Baldwin lead on patient and public involvement, survey dissemination, and contextualisation within health visiting practice. The study runs until November 2027.
